My work examines previously described mythological creatures sourced from archival books and relevant historical artefacts, all of which have entranced me. For my scroll I reimagined text descriptions from the archival sources, specifically ones that focussed on beasts and creatures with negative or evil connotations about them. Here there are no boundaries between beast, creature, or demon nor any boundaries that separate the vast sources of ancient history that they originate from.
These are stories personified by beings that have found immortality by the passing down of information. What do their stories mean? And how do they remain relevant despite the ever- changing story telling landscape? In this work the creatures I have brought to life have been reimagined once again and their stories given new context. This final work has been an archival dive into what I love and value about storytelling and its history, continuing their narratives forward into the future.
