In a process that has been practiced for thousands of years, sand, flux and heat are the fundamental ingredients used to make glass.
In my installations materials have been collected and gifted from specific sites and used in my alchemical approach to understanding and connecting to place.
This work is the manifestation of the unique chemistry of an ecosystem, creating a body of work that captures the essence of place and takes the observer on a journey of curiosity and discovery.
Following an intuitive and experimental process of making, objects become an index of my creative process and the landscape that inspires me.
The raw materials that I gather from sites direct a range of traditional and non-traditional glass and ceramic processes foregrounding their material and tangible presence in unexpected ways, where nature has a defining role in the production of the work.
