Christopher McAnulty (b.1997, Sydney) works with painting and found objects distilled from memories, musings, and everyday experiences.

Working between abstraction and figuration, my works fuse imagery from art history and popular culture juxtaposing personal and collective motifs to describe everyday experiences.

Through colour, intricate compositions, and the adoption of unexpected elements, the works are an ongoing exploration of what it means to exist, feel, and connect in a time of social fragmentation.

The work aims to bridge the past and present, real, and fictional through painting and assemblage. The collective motif of the hand evident in popular culture cartoons, animations, and art historical references creates a first-person perspective but also suggest a disembodied character traversing real and imagined spaces.
