My work generates an optical and tactile experience of materiality, exploring the ways in which it can be manipulated dynamically to interact between light, space and viewer. Through this piece, I seek to meld contrasting ideas of motion and stillness, light and shadow, transparency and opacity to explore the interplay of visual tactility and emotion. The reflective and transparent qualities of colour, fabric and shape generate a range of intangible feelings and sensations. My work embodies an inherent playfulness through its shape-shifting qualities, suggestive of memory, femininity, and adolescent nostalgia via the transformation of mundane materials.
