Obituary
This body of work is about the universal experience of the fragility and the ephemeral nature of life.
The works include a variety of media that evoke the fragmented nature of memory through public and private imagery. Repurposed fragments of personal clothing and images of intimate belongings share a glimpse into another’s identity and world.
The work is strongly associated with improvisation and materiality as drivers of personal emotion and identification. The textile component draws inspiration from Japanese Boro mending and the notion of passing down textiles from one generation to the next. The philosophy behind the work can also be connected to the idea of Wabi Sabi and the beauty of imperfection and impermanence.
